with Sue Charman, Cat Large and Yuli Somme  – at Sharpham, Ashprington, Totnes, Devon

Sunday 27th April 2014 – 9.30a.m. to 9.30p.m.

This is a day full-day and evening workshop for women to take time and space to honour the loss through miscarriage, termination or being stillborn of a child or children whom may have lacked a formal funeral or a period of mourning.

This is a day of meditation, ritual, crafts, poetry, ceremony and song in which you can speak of your experiences and witness those of others. There will be space to connect with and honour your grief. There will be time to tell your story of loss, if you wish. Please bring a contribution towards a shared lunch.

In the afternoon, using entirely natural materials you will be invited to create a felt doll to represent your lost little one(s) and to write a letter or poem to them. This can be sewn inside the body of the doll. You will also have the chance to make a felt origami swan and a candle. These are very simple to make and no particular skills are necessary. The physical act of making is engaging and can be cathartic.

At 6pm, we invite your supporters to join you and bring food to share for an evening, a bowl of warm soup and a closing circle. We will go down to the River Dart together and have a quiet, simple, honouring ritual followed by the bowl of warm soup and a closing circle.

The day will start at 9.30am and continue until 9.30pm.

This day is in the tradition of the Red Tent – a space for women to gather, share sacred and collaborative wisdom and to honour all the threshold moments of our lives.

Cost is £85. Bursary places are available.
