Magical woolly transformations, two ideas in one day!
We start with a unique concept which illustrates the transformation of wool to felt
when you apply moisture and friction. You will be preparing beautiful soft white
British wool, applying it in layers to your feet, then going for an hours walk. Feel
free to read that again to make sure you understand! We shall be walking in wool
to make it become felt, and the result is astonishing – felt footsteps! Not
slippers, but sculptures of YOUR feet. This workshop is particularly lovely to do
with a companion.
In the afternoon you will be learning a simple origami technique, making a swan
and then needle felting the swans head, and it’s all in beautiful British wool!
The Chapel Workshop
About the workshop space – the chapel is rented from the Unitarians. It has all basic facilities and is wheelchair accessible. It’s a big, airy and beautiful space, with plenty of light. The ancient market town of Moretonhampstead, with cafe’s, B&B’s, hotel and basic shopping is just down the street. There are other craft workshops and Greenhill Arts Centre nearby, and the Devon Crafts Guild is a 15 min drive down the road. Located on the north eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, UK – a delightful place as a base for exploring the moors, for a day out – or even a holiday!
